House Fire Linked to Marijuana Grow Shed
September 3, 2010
In an update to a story from earlier this week, a fire that damaged a Thousand Oaks home was caused by an electrical circuit leading to a shed being used to grow marijuana.
The fire was reported about 3:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Calle Contento. The middle aged couple and their small dog were able to escape the house without injuries. The fire was quickly contained, although the shed was destroyed and the house suffered major damage.
The source of the fire was determined to be a circuit leading toa a shed on the property which was being used to grow pot.
No one was arrested in connection with the marijuana.
“It does appear it was within the parameters of Prop. 215,” said Sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Ross Bonfiglio in a press briefing, referring to the initiative that legalized medical use of marijuana in California.
