T.O. Flight Attendant to Host Reality TV Show?

August 17, 2010

Steven Slater, the Jet Blue flight attendant whose angry exit from a flight in New York city made national news, may become the host of a new reality television series.
‘TMZ’ claimed in a report earlier today that they have received information from “well placed industry sources” that Steven Slater has been offered a spot on a new television reality show by Stone Entertainment. The reality television powerhouse is reportedly trying to persuade Slater to host a show which would focus on people who quit their jobs in unusual ways. “Unusual Ways to Quit Your Job” is one suggested title.

Slater recently hired Hollywood crisis PR specialist Howard Bragman, who has represented Issiah Washington, Chaz Bono, and Oksana Grigorieva.

Bragman released a statement that reads, “I can officially confirm that I am now representing Steven Slater. While my work will include media relations, my team at Fifteen Minutes and I will also be helping him sort out the scores of offers that have come through in the past week from media, producers, brands and other interested parties. I very much believe that Steven touched a nerve with the American people and am proud to be helping him tell his story at the appropriate time in the appropriate way.”

The thirty eight year old Slater grew up in the town of Thousand Oaks. He left the high school there before the twelfth grade in order to attend classes at private school for “accelerated” students. Slater’s mother was a flight attendant as well, and his father was an American Airlines pilot.

Authorities allege that Slater, 38, became angry after being struck by a piece of luggage, cursed the passenger and airline over the public address system, grabbed a beer from the galley, deployed the emergency exit slides, and slid to the tarmac where walked across the runway and then drove home.

He was arrested at his home in Queens, NY later that day on charges of criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. He has pleaded not guilty.
